Why choose The Mindful Midwife?
-
There is absolutely no judgement about the choices you make for your pregnancy and birth. Only you know what feels right for you and your family, and I will support you whatever those choices may be.
We’ll explore all your options openly and without bias, so you can make informed decisions that feel right for you. I believe in being honest and realistic about birth, preparing you for the possibilities as well as the positives, so you can approach your birth feeling informed, confident and ready to navigate whatever your experience may bring.

I am a practising NHS midwife, with over 17 years experience. I have worked on maternity wards, in education and as a high-risk Delivery Suite coordinator, but I am currently managing Maternity Triage, a Midwife-Led Unit and a home birth team.
My classes are always evidence based, and I keep myself up to date with the latest research and guidance.
I have experienced birth from both sides… having given birth to my own babies at the hospital where I worked at the time. I loved caring for women in the rooms I had birthed my own babies!

Having a baby is exciting!
My classes are about looking forward to the moment you meet your baby, feeling excited about birth (yes this is possible), welcoming contractions, feeling powerful, capable, and confident.
I believe that talking about birth positively can help to change your mindset, which unfortunately tends to be negative in our culture, formed by years of birth being presented as scary, dramatic, painful, and something to fear.

It is a word that is often overused, but there really is nothing more empowering than being aware of your options.
In my classes you, and your birth partner, will learn that you always have options. An empowered birth partner can advocate for you when you’re vulnerable or ‘in the zone’ during birth. You will learn that your midwife will be there to guide and support you, but ultimately, decisions about your pregnancy and birth are yours to make.

All my birth preparation classes incorporate hypnobirthing techniques to help you feel calm, confident and in control, whatever your birth may bring. You'll also receive carefully selected hypnobirthing MP3s to use throughout pregnancy and during labour, helping you feel relaxed, reassured and empowered as you prepare to meet your baby.

I am here to support you right up until your birth. It is really normal to need further reassurance or to have questions or a need to clarify things, long after you have attended a class. You can contact me by phone or email to talk things through.
Receiving positive birth stories (and of course photos of newborn babies!) from my clients is one of the best parts of my teaching!
Still not sure where to start?
I'm always happy to answer any questions. If you'd like to find out a little more about me and how I work before booking, we can arrange a quick, informal chat over the phone.
