Hi, I’m Faye, a mother of three and the midwife behind The Mindful Midwife!
About The Mindful Midwife
I started training as a midwife in 2006.
I was aged just 18, very naïve and with no real understanding of the responsibility I was taking on, but I was completely in awe of what women are capable of! Since qualifying in 2009, I've worked across a wide range of maternity settings and have developed my career into senior midwifery roles, supporting women, families and midwives through pregnancy, birth and the early days of parenthood.
After having my own babies I fell in love with midwifery all over again.
My births were not ‘perfect’ but they were very positive experiences, and I know this is because I had complete trust in my colleagues. I felt safe and listened to, I understood what was happening to my body, I knew what my options were, and I was excited to give birth! I believe that everybody can achieve this, with the right preparation.
I knew I wanted to help other expectant parent feel excited about birth.
So I set up The Mindful Midwife to teach positive, empowering, non-judgemental, realistic, and ‘guilt-free’ classes to help you feel truly prepared, confident, and capable.
Why the mindful midwife?
Practising mindfulness is important to me, it helps me to feel happier, more fulfilled, and better able to manage the stresses of being a mother. For me, mindfulness isn't about sitting cross-legged in silence, it's about being present, staying grounded and feeling able to respond to whatever comes your way.
When I'm not being a midwife...
I am with my children, exploring the outdoors, seeing the world and enjoying good food!
